I am the proud parent of a 10 year old son with autism. I have been a strong advocate for my son and other parents for 8 years. My purpose in life is to assist parents in their effort to effectively advocate for their children's educational rights and services. When I decided to relocate from Jefferson City to St. Charles I struggled to find resources and assistance. I started a blog called MommiesSupport.me dealing with my son's IEP issues. Through Mommies Support I have trained parents on how to be an Effective Advocate for their kiddos. During the training parents expressed having a support group.

We are forming new parent support groups for Jefferson County, St. Louis and St. Charles. We are inviting parents of kids with special needs for a monthly meeting beginning in early October. The first meeting will be a "get to know you" before we establish meetings for Understanding IEP's, finding services and more. |
