WMS7 was approached to present a social media usage presentation at the annual fall MoASBO conference in Lake of the Ozarks, MO. The Missouri Association of School Business Officials is a nonprofit, statewide education association of school administrators and directors whose focus is on the “business” of education. The organization was established in 1952 and is affiliated with the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBOI). Members may be wholly or partially responsible for budgeting, school finance, accounting, purchasing and supply management, payroll, maintenance and operation, data processing, school plant planning and construction, school food service management, transportation, and any other major areas of school business administration. The demands made on the school business official’s time and skills are increasing. At a time when school business operations have reached an unparalleled degree of complexity and the maintenance of efficiency and service has become a major challenge, the business official is being asked to perform his or her job with even greater precision and effectiveness. Keeping current on the many new laws, changes in existing law, and numerous regulations in both the State and Federal Register is a tremendous task. In this environment, the Missouri Association of School Business Officials has an obligation to aid the school business official in the performance of their duties and responsibilities by bringing to their attention new management methods, tools, techniques and procedures that will enable them to perform their management function of planning, organizing, coordinating, controlling, evaluating, improving, AND the wise and legal expenditure of the taxpayers’ money with which the business official has been entrusted. |
